I attended Shanti Kelley’s Anatomy Intensive Online in the Fall of 2020. The anatomy class was open to anyone and I thought it would be interesting and maybe help my practice. It definitely did just that. I find that I have a better understanding of what the poses are trying to target and how my breathing can help deepen them. Most especially, it helped me to stop thinking that I am failing if I can’t do a post perfectly. I have learned that each body can only do what it was made to do.
— Margaret Bencomo-Rivera, Psy.D.

The Yoga Sutras workshop taught by Jane Goldstein was both fun and informative. I was able to deepen my knowledge of my practice and learn about the history of yoga. Very grateful Wild Thing School of Yoga opened this workshop to the public so I could attend!

Shanti’s body of Metaphor Workshop is valuable, inspiring, and insightful. As a yoga teacher you try to cue, align your students for the betterment of your students and let’s be honest sometimes you cue and really don’t know the reason why you cue this way. Shant’s Body of Metaphor gives you hands on, visual reasons why? Shanti’s class brings you functional awareness of what the bones, muscles are doing in poses. She shows you scientifically improves peoples wellbeing. And as a student this class will empower you to practice that literally phrase we hear in yoga all the time a sense of “Steadiness/Strength and Ease” from planks, warriors, inversions, and backbends. I loved that even in a large group of trainees and teachers the classes always felt down to earth. She did not bring judgment on any question, answer or experience it was just is. For me, that brought such a calming, relaxed aroma in the room I felt like I could even ask questions (not like me). Personally, I have grown more confident as a teacher, freer as a student and inspired to be a reflection of what yoga is. I highly recommend the class even if you know Anatomy the correlation between the body and yoga opens your eyes to a new insight.

I took the Anatomy Training workshop with Shanti through Wild Thing School of Yoga back in fall of 2019. I am already certified as an instructor, but honestly I wish I could have taken the entire teacher training solely based on how amazing this workshop/continuing education was. It was thorough, hands on, and quite frankly a lot of the things I learned blew my mind. I learned SO MUCH. Shanti and Lana, were inviting, amazing, friendly, knowledgeable, and extremely helpful. At some point I fully plan on taking my 300 hour through Wild Thing School of Yoga, that’s how much I loved it. It was a lot of “unlearning” things I was originally taught, and learning how to work with your students and help them safely do yoga. 10/10 recommend this Yoga School!

My experience is anatomy is slim to none. I had some sessions in my 200hour but honestly even after teaching for two years AND working in an orthopedic office I was just saying cues I was taught or had heard in other classes. I had been eyeing other programs for anatomy and stumbled upon Wild Thing School of Yoga’s offering. It was less expensive and in person (which is how I learn best) than the other ones I was looking at- both a huge draw and deciding factor.

While each session was overwhelming in the amount of information presented, I had time and space between sessions to absorb and re-read and formulate questions. I loved the structure Shanti taught- practicing first-maybe us students not realizing that we were doing- then lecture, partner practice then tying it all together with our new understanding in the final practice.

I still may not say super anatomical correct cues but I’m more aware. I have been able to share with students why my body looks one way in a pose while someone else’s looks different (hello hip sockets!). I enjoyed all aspects of the training but the best is saved for last: the nervous system. This session was by far my favorite learning session. Mental health issues run in my family, I struggle with anxiety and depression, am part of a military family and have medical issues surrounding key components of the para and sympathetic nervous system. Just based on my experiences alone this is the session that wowed me. This is the session that really made me pay attention. I’m asking questions about it. Not just in yoga but to my doctors. (I may have opened a door to a new direction!)

Overall, if you are thinking of an anatomy training, invest in this one. Shanti is a valuable resource for anatomy knowledge yes but she also is down to earth and welcomes all questions. She helps you understand without making you feel dumb or silly. She presents the information in a way that helps it ‘stick’ or at least begins to plant the seeds needed for further learning and training. I feel incredibly grateful for having this opportunity to study with her and I can’t thank Lana and Wild Thing School of Yoga enough for bringing her here.

“Shanti Kelley, has changed the way I teach, the way I see bodies, the way I understand yoga, the way I see myself and my role as a teacher, and the way I want to exist in this world... I am forever grateful for the gift of her teaching” - Alex

Yoga Teacher Training Reviews

It’s so hard to put into words why Lana’s training is so amazing. I truly feel like it’s as advanced as a 300hr but packed into a 200hr (in the best way!). I never valued proper alignment in postures until she made me understand the importance of it, and then explored it in my own body with her guidance. Lana held beautiful space for us, met each student where they were and pushed them to where she knew they could be, and ushered us all through this amazing and vulnerable journey all while making us feel safe, welcome, and free to explore our own voices through yoga. This 200hr training was very challenging, but in the way that feels so great. I felt like I grew tremendously in my personal practice and as a yogi after each weekend, and not once was I counting the minutes to get out and go home. In fact, I was always disappointed, even though the days were long, when it was time to pack up for the weekend and leave this space of rich learning and strong camaraderie. I’ll forever cherish the bonds I made, and the only thing that I feel when I think back on my time here is warmth and the most genuine smile I’ve ever felt. One of the best things about her training is the guest teachers she brings in to teach different subjects, which gave us a multitude of perspectives to learn from. I have so much newfound wisdom leaving the training that I feel like a new person. If you’re looking for a program that will give you the knowledge and skills to be the best yoga teacher and student while also wanting tremendous growth in your own practice, I can’t recommend Lana’s program enough.

With no judgement, she empowers you to become the best version of yourself! You’ll learn how to successfully start your own business, proper alignment, creative sequencing, & so much more! Lana brings in MANY teachers to discuss different topics she could easily teach but rather bring in experts to give her students the best experience. I highly recommend this training to anyone looking to gain the confidence needed to become a yoga teacher!

In a word, this training is transformative. You will learn so much about yoga and about yourself. Lana Reed leads the training with her vast experience and her generous and beautiful heart. She is extremely supportive but also encourages trainees to take the lead in designing and leading sequences and developing a vision for their yoga business. She helps students to find their own voices as a yoga teachers. Every minute of training is well-planned and engaging. A very unique aspect of this particular YTT is the host of guest teachers that Lana brings in. Though Lana has expertise in her own rite, she feels strongly that her trainees hear from a variety of experts to further solidify their teaching foundation. Thanks to Lana, I feel extremely prepared to start my career as a yoga teacher. If you are thinking about doing the training, do it. It will be the best gift you have given yourself.

“I can’t believe the amazing journey of my teacher training is already over. It was truly one of the best experiences of my life. My practice evolved and grew in leaps and bounds. My brain feels full to bursting with so much new information. My heart has been filled with new friendships. And my spirit feels softer and warmer from the deep meaningful conversations about yogic philosophy. People often say that teacher training is a life changing, sort of mystical experience. I can confirm now, that it most definitely is. I’m so thankful have had this opportunity. Lana is a gifted teacher, and has the magical ability to push you to your limits without pushing you past them. I cannot say enough good things about Lana or this program. If you’re considering teacher training, this is THE ONE.”

Earning my yoga teacher training certification through the Wild Thing School of Yoga led by Lana Reed was a transformation experience. Lana has dedicated her adult life to the study and practice of yoga and she put together a thoughtful curriculum that touches on all facets of the practice, with a heavy emphasis on anatomy.

I can’t speak highly enough about the quality of this training as a whole. My understanding of the human body increased exponentially and dramatically refined my yoga asana practice. Yoga philosophy and texts were beautifully presented and opened up a new world of exploration. The complex history and lineages of yoga made sense of information I had acquired over years of practice. Lana also brought in master level yoga teachers with a wealth of knowledge and direct lineages to gurus in India. The skills I gained to lead a yoga asana class made me a confident teacher. All this in the setting of Alamo City Yoga, a serene studio filled with natural light in the heart of Alamo Heights.

If you want to become a skilled yoga instructor or deepen the roots of your practice, I highly recommend signing up for her training. It was everything I could have hoped for in a 200-hour.

I feel that Wild Thing School of Yoga was a greatly thought out program that provided many learning opportunities that went above and beyond my expectations.

I enjoyed having guest teachers come and give lectures on different topics that you could tell they were very passionate about. It was beneficial to learn from other experienced teachers in the yoga community. Learning and teaching pranayama techniques was interesting and great to be able to get hands on experience with teaching others in a group setting. The anatomy piece of it was mind blowing. Being able to understand how the body moves within yoga and all the whys and hows that came along with it was incredible to learn. I liked that we got to experience different types of yoga Yin, Yoga Nidra, Ashtanga, Meditation, and even the sound bowl class was interesting.

I liked that the program was set up to give the students time within class to get comfortable with teaching yoga to others. It helped that the teachings started off in pairs then gradually got larger as we grew a bit more comfortable with teaching. The Karma Class was eye opening and a great challenge that I enjoyed. I also like that we were obligated to watch our class and critic ourselves. Learning the poses in sanskrit was another big challenge, but I do feel that it is important to know the sanskrit names and now prefer the poses in sanskrit. The final project allowed me to truly put myself in the mindset of being a yoga teacher and seeing all the parts that come with it. I enjoyed putting it altogether.

I also enjoyed the lecture on how to teach to a peak pose. Given multiple opportunities to practice doing this in class was great as well as being able to collaborate with others. The space that was chosen for the classes was beautiful and comfortable. I never felt over crowed. Overall, I greatly enjoyed this class and would highly recommend it to anyone else who is interested!

Wild Thing School of Yoga was the BEST learning experience I have yet to have when taking on my passion of yoga and the lifestyle I choose to lead. The chosen speakers were extremely knowledgeable in their field and delightful company as well. I hope to expand my practice more with a 300 HR YTT some day!
— Rachel Perez

I really wanted to learn more about yoga not to teach, but to, deepen my knowledge and understanding. I wanted a mix of modern yoga/ functional movement and traditional yoga & philosophy. Wild Thing School of Yoga was exactly that with multiple styles and lineages, functional anatomy, business & marketing, traditional studies in Ayurveda, history & philosophy, pranayama and Sanskrit. Such a well rounded education and I learned so much and still learning 🧘‍♂️
— Stacy

All the training is very wisely and carefully put together, the teachers are kind, experienced and deliver high quality knowledge. I do recommend this school to anyone that wants to take a teacher training, or that wants to take yoga classes. I am very happy with all the things that I have learned.

The course was wonderful and I enjoyed having local experts come in a teach specific areas. I believe this allowed us to become integrated into the yoga teaching community and learn various techniques quicker than if we were limited to just the teachers at the studio. The course covered various core elements of yoga which are foundational. - I also enjoyed having the anatomy workshop open to the public so we could learn from others who may already be actively practicing Teacher: - Lana was a great teacher who allowed you to be who you are and not mold you into a specific type. She taught us how to modify and be aware of the foundational poses, yet find our own voice with refinement. Her passion was contagious for the practice. The intensity of the class was great.
— Kendall Powers

The Wild Thing School of Yoga RYS-200 Teacher Training developed and led by Lana Reed was world class. An intense challenge, but the quality and depth of the curriculum is WELL worth the time and effort. The passion for yoga demonstrated by the founder creates a dynamic and engaging environment in which to learn and grow.
— Gretchen Cruthirds

I feel extremely lucky to have found this training. I got to learn so much from experienced teachers, and learned to avoid common mistakes that could have easily not been covered in other trainings. Lana was extremely fun to be around and she made the studio feel like a second home for the trainees. I would recommend this training for anyone, even If you are an experienced yogi, because there is so much depth to this training that even people who have been teaching for years would benefit.

I am so thankful to have met Lana, as this program was a true breath of fresh air. This is my second 200 hour YTT & the amount of thought and love behind making this training come to life is clear from the moment you walk in. Each lesson and Master Teacher chosen offers something inspiring and powerful to impact our teaching and deepen our understanding of so much more than the physical practice of yoga. I feel like I have learned more in this 3.5 months than I have in the past two years I’ve been teaching. I am so grateful for the steady pushes towards growth Lana has offered us all throughout the program…holding us to high standards from the first day, this isn’t a pay and pass course…her curriculum is certainly rigorous in the best way. You WILL work, you WILL learn, and you WILL grow. I am humbled & grateful!
