Mentorship for Yoga Teachers

Intention: A firm foundation & sustainable expansion through a thorough business strategy starting from where you’re at right now!

What motivates me?

Mentors have been crucial pillars of support in building my business from the ground up. I understand the power of meaningful support and assistance in determining direction because I've experienced doing it without versus doing it with. You don’t have to do it alone because you aren’t alone. Others have walked in this province before and some are willing to walk with those just beginning. That’s me! I want to make growing pains less painful for yoga teachers starting out and share from my own painful growth experiences in a way that empowers others and continues adding value in my own story.

My small business story in a nutshell

All good stories are at heart adventure stories with risk and love and journeys into unknown territories. This is no less true for the origin story of small businesses and the crazy people who start them. Just like in the fairy tales of old and happy-ending movies of new; its not often that the story verges into the legal and financial details. No one sees the contracts, the loan terms, and the drafts of plans that never make it. I want to change this. Talking about owning your own business realities is important to me. From naive beginnings to comprehensive liability insurance and solid client contracts. From how to pay the bills to how much to charge. I’ve had to learn a lot. The way I learned was mostly the hard way and I suffered some hard knocks but I got back up again and I've got systems now and spreadsheets and strategies and I’m ready to share. Where do you want to go?

Just want to teach? Never-mind the rest of the stuff? I get that. If you think this is your forever happy place then its possible you might not benefit considerably from a Wild Thing Mentorship. If on the other hand you still daydream about what might be possible (leave your day job for instance) or imagine that you might want more freedom or a change of scene or increased independence at some stage – then a mentorship might be a great place to start considering what is possible in a more concrete way.

Just starting out? Never owned a business before? Thinking about when the time comes to leave the studio, what will you have built for yourself to step into? Is it easy to think of yourself as a successful independent Yoga professional? I’ve been there! Here is what I can offer; practical, positive support on the journey!

What I can do:

  • Pros and cons of various business approaches: studio partnership? Creating a studio? Travel teaching?

  • Paint realistic pictures of overhead and finances

  • Explain the various elements which often compete in small business ownership.

  • Serve as a sounding board from someone who can speak from experience

  • Draw out a focused approach with actionable goals in line with your objectives

  • Help you harness your strengths and prioritize your energy and financial investments

  • Encourage and build you up when faith in yourself falters.

  • Work as a lens to clarify your vision and bring your future into focus.

What I can’t do:

  • Keep you from falling down or facing your own challenges.

  • Tell you what to do

  • Make hard choices for you.

Would Mentorship be helpful for you?

Are your ready to get more serious about yoga as a profession? Are you curious or overwhelmed about what creating your own small business would entail?

Why consider working with me?

I understand yoga business elements from multiple angles. I can offer solid advice about directing your energies for maximum benefit and to avoid burnout (yes, it’s real!). Working with me is aimed at reducing stress, saving time, and avoiding expensive and draining detours. My road to now has taken me from volunteer work in creative yoga initiatives, working as a yoga teacher through studio’s, studio management and oversight, managing a team of yoga teachers, subcontracting and collaborating alongside studios, designing a private studio, figuring out licenses and liability, learning the importance of marketing, and much more. I’ve come from the ground up from a know-nothing to educating yogi’s on the inescapable business elements of yoga. I have a possess a strong, useful, and informed attention to detail. Together we lay stepping stones for confident decision making. Avoid going from yogi to yoga professional in 87465 not-so-easy steps and skip ahead to a solid plan for becoming a profitable small business yoga professional in touch with your worth and able to express the value you bring to potential clients.

I learned the hard way.

  1. Marketing doesn’t have to be sleazy and lame.

  2. You can’t help people if you can’t connect with them and express the value of what you have to offer.

  3. Smarter not harder is a thing!

  4. Put money and time into what will pay off in the long term (burnout prevention tip) time into what is a solid investment to grow your business financially for the long term.

  5. How important it is to have consistency.

  6. Critical importance of silencing self doubt.

  7. The worth of knowing your own value in all aspects of life especially business.

I want to help you shortcut what it took me years to learn.
